I thought it would be fun to start taking pictures of the makeup I use throughout the week. Not necessarily my favorite products, just what I actually pulled out and used that morning. And, whatever form of caffeine I was going to drink while applying my makeup.
There’s no Monday because I had an early flight from Chicago to Miami. I put on mascara, threw on a baseball hat and called it good.
Tuesday
I was in Miami, I wanted my makeup to last through the heat and humidity. I layered cream and powder bronzer and blush, which is something I do when I know I need my makeup to last all day.
I kept my eyes really simple and mixed a little of my bronzer and blush together for eyeshadow. I wasn’t really trying to create a full eye look, but I ended up loving the colors together.
Wednesday
I wanted a little more color on my cheeks Wednesday, so I started with Kosas Nuance and added NARS Hot Take to brighten it up. I love how blurring Hot Take is. Then I used NARS Madly on top to set everything.
I did a little more with my eyes too. I used Violette_FR Lait au Café on my lid and in the crease, then added a tiny bit of Haus Labs Amber Horizon bronzer in the crease for more depth.
I finished with a ColourPop shadow, Ritz, patted over the lid. It has glitter in it, but once it’s on my eyes it gives more of a glossy sheen.
Thursday
Back home and apparently ready for bolder makeup 😂
For a bolder eye, I used Laura Mercier Amethyst on my lid and in the crease with some Violette_FR Lait au Café added to the crease for more depth.
I also used the brown Caliray Come Hell or High Water mascara. I bought the brown accidentally and didn’t think I would like it, but I’ve been loving it. I still love a really black mascara, but apparently there’s room for brown now too.
For lips, I used Makeup by Mario Spiced Chai liner with MAC Alone Time. Alone Time is a sheer brownish greige that cools down whatever I put underneath it. The combination made the whole look feel a little more grungy, which was what I was going for.
Friday
I recently bought a Kiko eyeshadow stick in Mauve Brown and wanted to try it. It’s a really pretty purple-leaning brown and definitely a color I see myself wearing a lot.
I also pulled out my Rare Beauty bronzer in Power Boost, which I haven’t used in forever. I have so many bronzers that sometimes I completely forget about ones I used to love.
A Few Thoughts From the Week
Looking back at the pictures, I realized I didn’t use an eyeshadow palette once. I used shadow sticks, bronzer, blush and a little glitter instead. Apparently that’s where I’m at with eye makeup right now.
I also like seeing which products keep showing up from one day to the next. I own quite a bit of makeup because I love trying new products, but the things I actually reach for on a random Wednesday morning probably say more about what I really like than a favorites list does.
